The family of my great-grandmother, Karin Erikson Olson, mother of Otto Olson and grandmother of Herbert Olson, emmigrated from Langviken, Lima Socken, Vastra, Darlarna, Sweden, according to the "Memories" book written by Karin's sister, Britta (Mrs. Per Olson). In the book Britta describes going walking to church in Lima. She also describes how she and her family lived on the island of Holmen in Lake Gryken in the winter and on the mainland in the summer. My sister, Doreen, and I visited Sweden in 2005. We met our relatives there, and they gave us a tour of Lima Church, and served us a picnic on Holmen Island. Below are some of the photos I took while we were there.
Lima Church
Blessing over a doorway in the church which means Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord. The wooden lamb at the base was saved from the original 12th century church, which burned.
